It is very important to be careful about downloading antivirus packages off of the Internet. Before downloading a package, you should do some research to find out if it really does what it claims to do. Some antivirus packages that advertise via popups will let you run an on-line antivirus to check out your system and then falsely report to you that you have viruses that are not present and may easily miss viruses that you have. If you get a popup advertisement telling you that you have a virus, do not use the software being advertised to scan for the virus.
Computer Associates Antivirus - Free One Year Trial Offer
Computer Associates currently offers a one year free trial offer of their antivirus software. We have encountered very few problems with this software and highly recoomend it.
To download the software, go to web page at www.my-etrust.com/microsoft and select the free one year trial offer for downloading. You will be asked to fill out a form with your name, e-mail address, and a password. After fill out the form, they well send an e-mail instructing you on where and how to download the anti-virus software.
After one year, you are not eligible for another free year. However, if you go to the web page and fill out the form again, they usually make a very nice offer on a year's paid subscription to the antivirus. The total cost should be considerably less expensive than purchasing the package from a rival antivirus company.
It is inadvisable to try to use more than one antivirus package at a time on the same computer. When installing this software, make sure that you first remove any antivirus software you are already running. And if you later switch to something else from this software, make sure you uninstall this antivirus software before installing the new software package.
